Coincidences Occur Where Life & Destiny Intersect

Recently I was leading a discussion at a book store in Chicago about some of the concepts and back story that led to the writing of my book, Ancient Pact. People sipping tea and nibbling on sweets were seated in the café area and more people sat or stood around the perimeter.

One of the concepts of the book is that “coincidences occur where life and destiny intersect.” For my purposes, karma and destiny are basically the same thing. I believe destiny is self-created and results from an individual’s thoughts, words and actions in this and previous lifetimes.

Coincidences serve as “wake up” alerts that the person or persons are at a critical intersection and the use of free will becomes even more important. In other words, make choices wisely and with deliberate consciousness. Life will present opportunities and “coincidences” and it’s up to the person to use free will to either continue on the path he or she is on or make different choices.

I was sharing these views with the standing-room-only gathering when a rather tattered-looking man noisily joined the group. His shoulders were hunched under a heavy brown jacket that seemed to wear the dust of many ages. Despite the sadness in his eyes I could see a glimmer of hope in them..

Near the conclusion of my presentation he raised his hand and asked something like, “But what if you can’t get over all of the bad things that have happened? What if the past is so horrible there is no recovery?”

Clearly this man had experienced something from which he believed he could not rise above. I shared one of the other concepts from Ancient Pact which is that reality is greater than perception. This means that as immortal beings we occupy a temporary body to experience the physical realm in ways we can’t experience it from the spiritual, nonphysical realm. For example, a woman may experience great pain when she mistakes her body for her true identity. She is not a body that HAS a soul. She IS a soul or Spirit-self who HAS a body.

This man had allowed his terrible past to "define" him and keep him in emotional, mental and spiritual jail. His past had become his present reality and clearly he had forgotten he is a spiritual being that exists beyond this physical experience.

He told the group that he had been through counseling and it didn’t work. He also said he was unwilling to forget the event and move forward.

I then pointed out that he could use his free will to get the help he needed. Pain and grief often cloud rational thoughts. Sometimes we all need a helping hand to get past life's challenges and see from a fresh perspective. At this point I pulled out samples of the Ancient Pact, Deck One: Spiritual Contemplation Cards that will be available in June. I had him draw a card. He pulled the one that said, “Stop Trying To Justify Staying Miserable.”
(See the card at the bottom of this newsletter.)

I felt chills as I witnessed the wonderful “coincidence” unfold.

He laughed and said, “These cards are brilliant. This is perfect.”

I said, “Not only is it ‘brilliant’ that you selected the perfect card, but you know that the message is true. How much longer do you want to live in the shadows of your past?”

His eyes were bright and his smile genuine as he shook the card at me and said, “I’m going to have to think about this. Can I keep the card?”

Of course I let him keep the card and I wished him prosperous and joyful use of his free will. My sincere wish is that the man in the dusty brown jacket view this "coincidence" as an intersection for healing. He can choose to continue on his current pain-filled path or he can choose another path toward healing. May the hope I saw in his eyes blossum into reality.

Other people drew equally compelling cards for their lives. A few even gasped and said something like, "This is exactly what I've been struggling with." Some people might call these random selections of cards “coincidences.” I call them intersections of life and destiny. When a person is ready for growth the cogs in the universe align to make it happen.

Have you been noticing unusual coincidences or synchronicities? Do you have some very important decisions to make?

May each of us always do that which is for the highest good of All or for the greatest number of beings. May we learn from our mistakes and apologize where that is what is the right thing to do. May all beings be blissfully blessed.

Honey Bees and Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD)

Normally this newsletter features articles and discussions about concepts from the book, Ancient Pact. Those of you who have read the book know the honey bee plays an important role in the story. These tiny creatures are also play a leading role in the food chain for humans, and other species, around the world. Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) is wiping out bees across the United States and Europe.

In an April 27, 2007 LA Times article the heading read, “A fungus that hit hives in Europe and Asia may be partly to blame for wiping out colonies across the U.S.” An April 15th article in the UK’s The Independent asks, “Are mobile phones wiping out our bees?”

Scientists and beekeepers alike are struggling to save hives and their inhabitants. “A fungus that caused widespread loss of bee colonies in Europe and Asia may be playing a crucial role in this mysterious phenomenon…” UC San Francisco researchers said Wednesday according to the LA Times article.

LA Times: “But the results are ‘highly preliminary’ and are from only a few hives from Le Grand in Merced County, UCSF biochemist Joe DeRisi said, “We don’t want to give anybody the impression that this thing has been solved.” N. ceranae is “one of many pathogens” in the bees, “By itself, it is probably not the culprit … but it may be one of the key players,” said entomologist Diana Cox-Foster of Pennsylvania State University.”

Other factors, such as pesticides or inadequate food resources following a drought, are also being examined. A combination of several factors could be responsible.

LA Times: “But the current loss appears unprecedented. Beekeepers in 28 states, Canada and Britain have reported large losses. About a quarter of the estimated 2.4 million commercial colonies (600,000) across the United States have been lost since fall. These are remarkable and dramatic losses,” said Jerry Hayes of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in Gainesville and president of the Apiary Inspectors of America.

Other scientists claim radiation from cell phones are to blame for mysterious ‘colony collapse’ of bees. According to The Independent, “The theory is that radiation from cell phones interferes with bees’ navigation systems, preventing the bees from finding their way back to their hives.

I recently overheard a man say to his companion, “So what if the honey bees disappear? Species go extinct everyday.” While this attitude is deeply disturbing on many levels, the death of bees and their hives have serious implications for humans. Globally, our crops depend on bees for pollination. Albert Einstein said that if the bees disappeared, “man (humans) would have only four years of life left”.

Here are a few suggestions:
1. Turn your cell phone off when not in use.
(For your health, use a headset or the speakerphone. Keep the cell phone away from your body.)
2. Don’t use chemicals and pesticides on your garden or lawn. Use Natural Alternatives.
3. Practice Organic Gardening. Grow organic flowers and trees.
4. Raise plants that are Native to your Region.
5. Educate yourself and others about ways to live in harmony with our planet.
6. Recycle & Reuse.
7. Purchase products that use a minimum of packaging materials.
8 Use Baking Soda to scrub away stains instead of polluting chemicals.
9. Raise your awareness about Global Warming
10. Send suggestions for the next article. (Note: Spaces were added to the recipient's address to foil Spam Spiders. Please remove spaces to ensure your message will be received.)

While these suggestions may not directly help the bees, finding more harmonious ways of sharing this planet will never hurt.

Additional information added May 17, 2007 after a heart-felt email from Rose A. Jenkins reminded me of this chemical:

"Imidacloprid is a systemic insecticide produced by the chemical firm Bayer AG. In France it was sold under the name Gaucho and its use is highly controversial as it is believed to be responsible for high losses in bees. According to the National Union of French Beekeepers, the number of hives in France has plummeted to one million in 2003, from 1.45 million in 1996. Between 1995 and 2001, the average production of honey went from 75 kg/hive down to 30 kg/hive. The AFFSA (Association de Coordination Technique Agricole et Centre National d'Etudes Vétérinaires et Alimentaires) indicate the national production went down from 40,000 tons to 25,000 tons per year.

French beekeepers claim that Imidacloprid, as a seed treatment for sunflowers, has killed many bees and caused a significant drop in honey production. Some requested that systemic insecticides uses be withdrawn from crops where bees might be affected, while others called for a complete ban on its use." (Wikipedia)

Rose has been contacting bee associations urging a media and Congressional awareness campaign. She has also been trying to enlist a more active response from the Organic Consumers Association. Thank you, Rose, for your passion and activism. You are truly a Guardian / Keeper of the Air Beings.
